How come countries in The Balkans [Europe] have a higher Muslim percentage than some countries in the Middle East Like Qatar and Lebanon ??? *Islam percentage Kosovo-Over 90% Albania-Over 70% Bosnia-60% Macedonia- 50%
First, your percentages are suspicious. Kosovo is just about 90%. Albania: estimates of the religious allegiance of the population of Albania vary. The CIA World Factbook gives a distribution of 70% Muslims, 20% Eastern Orthodox, and 10% Roman Catholics. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/al.html According to the World Christian Encyclopedia, roughly 39% of Albanians are Muslim, and 35% Christian, while some sources, like International Religious Freedom Report here http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2009/127295.htm suggesting that the majority do not follow or practice any religion. In Bosnia, there are about 45% Muslim, but the degree of religious observance is varied on local level and for many persons religion often serves as a community or ethnic identifier, and religious practice may be confined to significant rites of passage such as birth, marriage, and death. This remark apply to Bosnian Christians as well (about 36% Bosnians are Orthodox Christian and 15% are Roman Catholics). Here's why Total population: Kosovo: 2.2 million Albania: 3.195 mil. (2010 estimate) Bosnia: 3.9 mil. Macedonia: 2.115 mil. Muslim population: Kosovo: 90% of 2.2 million = 1.98 mil. Albania: 70% (probably exaggerated as I've already noted) of 3.195 million = 2.24 mil. Bosnia: 45% of 3.9 mil. = 1.76 mil. Macedonia: 33% of 2.115 mil. = 0.70 mil. Summed together: 1.98+2.24+1.76+0.70 = 6.68 million. If you want to be consistent in your fixations to the Middle East then you could also observe that most European countries have a higher Christian percentage than some Middle Eastern countries although Christianity also originates from the Middle East.
