Hi I am writing a survey paragraph for my culture essay. I will be writing about the differences between American and Islam culture. I need Muslims to answer a few questions for me. Male What are the steps towards getting married in your culture? Islam is technically against dating because it leads to a lot of unwanted things. If you like a girl, you go up to her parents and ask them for her hand and then if they agree, they ask her what she thinks and she decides. However in today's day and time it is rare to see arranged marriages in Western societies. So many Muslims do date also. 3. Does your religion affect the way you will be married? Yes, there is Nikah which gives the man and the woman the right of divorce and property. 3. Do you believe culture affects the standards of marriage. Its an individual question. I think it does but they have to be in line with Islamic teaching.
